November 2025 changed everything. Overnight, my family’s world turned upside down. Learning what our new normal looks like.
What I couldn’t share then (and still can’t, for now) are the details. What I can share is how it feels to rebuild your life while keeping things steady for your children and your business — and to do it all with as much calm and dignity as you can muster.
Choosing Boundaries Over Noise
In the weeks that followed, I kept my circle small and my priorities simple: family, work, and one steady breath at a time. Most people have shown incredible kindness. A small number have chosen speculation and whispers — which is part of the internet, but not something that helps.
So here are my gentle lines in the sand:
- This is a personal, confidential, delicate situation.
- I’ll share more when I can — not before.
- If you’re concerned, message me directly.
- Please don’t discuss this without me. I’m creating a safe bubble for me and my children.
Boundaries aren’t walls; they’re doors with thoughtful locks. They’re how we heal in peace.
The Power of Small Wins
Between the crying and the difficult days, I’ve learned to look for tiny anchors:
- A normal school run
- A really good coffee – metaphorically speaking as I’m allergic to caffiene
- A laugh with a friend
- A productive day at work
- Blue skies after too much rain
- Teens improvising “roadman slang” and making me laugh till I cry
They sound small, but together they add up to something that looks a lot like resilience.
You don’t have to do it all alone.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay when you’re not.
The basics count. The small wins matter.
Business As Usual — And Then Some
When I said it would be business as usual at Black Nova Designs, I meant it. In November 2025 the business became solely owned by me — a huge, daunting step — and the team rose to meet the moment.
- 37+ new MSP IT clients onboarded
- 19 hosting transfers completed
- 10 new websites launched (with more in the pipeline)
- Our busiest December on record for new sign‑ups
- January kept the momentum going
I’m endlessly proud of my team. They’ve supported our clients, supported me, and shown that when you do the work with honesty, care, and clear communication, results follow. If you haven’t worked with us yet and you want reliable, plain‑English IT support or a WordPress site that actually behaves: we’re here, we’re fair on pricing, and we pick up the phone.
Collaboration > Competition
This season has reminded me that collaboration happens at the top. The IT world is crowded, but there’s enough room for all of us. Knowledge‑sharing, real partnerships, and supporting each other have brought far more value and opportunity than guarding our corners ever could. We rise higher when we rise together — and our clients feel the difference.
What I’ve Learned About Pain (And Permission)
Trauma and difficult life events happen to all of us. Your pain doesn’t need to “compete” with anyone else’s to be valid. If it’s yours, it matters. This season taught me:
- You don’t have to be the bigger person every time.
- You don’t have to people‑please at the expense of your wellbeing.
- You’re allowed to say no.
- You’re allowed to set boundaries.
- You’re allowed to tell people how you feel.
Sometimes chaos doesn’t just break things — it reveals what needs rebuilding differently.
How I’m Really Doing
Honestly? I’m not great — and it’s okay to say that out loud.
The business is flying, and I’m grateful beyond words to the team. Personally, I’m navigating something heavy, and I don’t have all the answers. Most days, I’m taking it one step at a time — and for now, that’s enough.
If you’re here too — carrying weight no one sees — I see you. You don’t have to carry it alone.
A Different Kind of Valentine’s Day
This year reminded me that love starts with you. Not as a Pinterest quote, but as a daily practice: self‑respect, grace, and remembering you deserve love that isn’t conditional on anyone else’s behaviour. Whether it’s a quiet day with your kids, a walk under blue skies, or a moment of peace — it counts.
To the Women Holding Up the World
On International Women’s Day, I thought about the invisible load so many women carry: the care, the bills, the emotions, the quiet glue that keeps everything standing. I’ve given too much in the past and lost myself more than once. But here’s the shift: it’s my turn now — to rebuild with strength, boundaries, passion, and self‑worth, and to teach my kids a better way.
To every woman in the background, holding it all together: today is for you. Here’s to rediscovering ourselves and rising, even when we were never meant to fall.
What’s Next
More presence. More honesty. More steady growth for the business. More laughter where we can find it. And more space for the life that’s unfolding — imperfect, unexpected, but ours.
If you’re a client, a friend, a partner, or someone quietly cheering us on: thank you. Your support has lifted us in ways you may never fully see.
PS: If you need IT support that’s human, responsive, and fair — from monthly MSP packages to email setups, hosting, and WordPress care — Black Nova Designs is here. We’ll pick up the phone, keep jargon to a minimum, and get it sorted.
